Plans to block-off a “disgusting” area under a bridge on the edge of Watford are in the works.
The space beneath Link Road, which runs between Watford and Bushey, is set to be cleared on Sunday (November 16) as it is currently filled with discarded items including cans, bags of waste, a pram, a bike wheel, and household items.
Described as “disgusting” and “disgraceful” by residents, it has apparently been in a poor state for years and is normally supposed to be inaccessible.
Sandy Belloni, who runs a local action group Community Connections Projects CIC, arranged the clear up but also wants to make sure the problem does not just reoccur.

He hopes that hedges can be used to naturally block off the area, adding: “If an area looks like a dumping ground, people will treat it like a dumping ground”.
A Hertsmere Borough Council spokesperson said: “We are supporting a community clear up of the littering and fly tipping in this area on Sunday, and are grateful to the team of volunteers involved.
“Where possible we will ensure as many items as possible are recycled.
“We are also working with Community Connections CIC on building up hedges and making the area more difficult to access in order to prevent this happening again.”
