Plans have been withdrawn that would have seen a row of houses built on green belt land in a village.
An empty field in Bedmond Road, to the north of the main village of Bedmond, had been eyed up for four new homes, with a planning application being submitted to Three Rivers District Council last month.
The applicant had previously received permission for a pair of homes on the land, only to change tack and submit a proposal for four dwellings instead.
They claimed this would be “a vast improvement in terms of the appropriateness of the massing” over two and better meet the housing demand for large family homes in Bedmond.

Although the land is designated as part of the green belt, developers argued that the site was within a village’s boundaries so could be considered infill.
The homes now seen unlikely to be built after the plans were suddenly withdrawn yesterday (November 8), with a letter appearing on the Three Rivers planning portal.
It states that the application has been withdrawn and that "no further action will be taken on it."
The homes would have each had four bedrooms and the site would have included 12 parking spaces.
