Inspectors have given an ‘outstanding’ grade in all areas to a school with “high expectations” for pupils’ success.
Staff, children, and the wider community at The Russell School celebrated jumping from ‘good’ at its last inspection to a perfect score following a visit on September 24 and 25.
Ofsted no longer hands out single-phrase grades – instead breaking reports down into categories – and it found the Brushwood Drive, Chorleywood, primary ’outstanding’ in each one.

Headteacher Claire Pitt said: “We are absolutely delighted that our commitment to provide the very best education and opportunities for personal development for every child has been recognised by Ofsted.
“The positive and nurturing relationships staff foster with our children and their families is at the very heart of our school and is why the children make so much progress.
“I would like to express my gratitude to our dedicated school team, and our children and their families who are central to this success.”
In the report, published October 22, inspectors described the school as being “highly ambitious for all pupils” with staff having “high expectations to ensure that every pupil has a successful and happy experience of school and thrive academically and socially”.
They also highlighted the exemplary behaviour and attitudes of the “thoroughly motivated and interested” children.
