A shop and a restaurant in Watford have applied for licences for the sale of alcohol.
Original Bimco Food, in Whippendell Road, has applied for the granting of a premises licence, while Rio Grande Steak House, in Vicarage Road, wants to extend the hours of its existing licence.
These applications have been posted in the Public Notice Portal, which is used to access upcoming and recent information about various restrictions and applications.
Here are five notices we’ve rounded up – including planned closures in Dalton Way and Thomas Sawyer Way for roadworks – which could affect residents in and around Watford.
Original Bimco Food, Whippendell Road – premises licence
Thiruvilangam Srithevan has applied for the granting of a premises licence at Original Bimco Food, 146 Whippendell Road, Watford WD18 7NB.
If approved, this would permit the sale of alcohol from 6am to 11pm, Monday to Sunday, off sales only.

Rio Grande Steak House, Vicarage Road – variation of premises licence
Fernando Roberto Piotto has made an application to vary the premises licence at Rio Grande Steak House, 14-16 Vicarage Road, Watford, WD18 0EH.
The proposal is to extend the hours for both on and off-sales of alcohol and the addition of late-night refreshment on Fridays and Saturdays.
The proposed new hours for the sale of alcohol are from 10am to 11pm, Sunday to Thursday, and 10am to 1am, Friday and Saturday, and for late night refreshment from 11pm to 1am, Friday and Saturday.
Representations should be made in writing to Watford Licensing Authority by November 12.
A411 Dalton Way and Thomas Sawyer Way – temporary closure
Herts County Council intends to make an order to prohibit vehicles from using the following lengths of road to allow works to be carried out:
- A411 Dalton Way, Watford from its junction with A411 Lower High Street south westwards, north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with A411 Waterfields Way, a distance of approximately 556m.
- Thomas Sawyer Way, Watford from its junction with A411 Dalton Way westwards to its junction with A4178 Wiggenhall Road, a distance of approximately 425m.
If made, the order will come into force on November 11 and be valid for up to 18 months, but restrictions will only apply at times shown on signs at or near the road.
Berry Grove Lane – temporary closure
The county council is intending to make an order to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using Berry Grove Lane, Watford/Bushey from a point 150m north east of its junction with Bushey Mill Lane south eastwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 160m to allow utility service works to take place.
If made, the order will come into force on November 11.
Orphanage Road – temporary closure
The county council is intending to make an order to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using Orphanage Road, Watford from its junction with Queens Road north eastwards to its junction with the Reed Crescent roundabout, a distance of approximately 128m.
This is to allow works to be carried out and the order, if made, will also come into force on November 11.
