Plans have been confirmed that would see land sold to make way for 65 affordable homes - but concerns have been raised over trees.

Watford Borough Council confirmed via the Public Notice Portal last week that it intends to sell land between the Holywell Estate and Watford Business Park to Watford Community Housing.

This would see 65 affordable homes built as part of the third phase of the Croxley View development.

The third of four planned stages would see new housing built on the land, currently used as public open space.

A public notice published on the borough council's website last week says that existing trees and habitats will be retained "where possible".

Nigel Bell, leader of the Labour group on Hertfordshire County Council and member for the Holywell Ward, said residents are concerned about losing trees at the Ascot Road entrance to Croxley View.

"While I know residents understand the need for more affordable homes in Watford, we must keep as much of the green open space and trees as possible when the planned 65 new homes are built further along Croxley View," he said.

The public can have their say on the planned sale of the land by emailing communications@watford.gov.uk and quoting "Croxley View Open Space Disposal”.

This must be done before 5pm on November 18.
