Plans have been submitted that would turn a commercial building in Bushey into flats.
Applicant Evans and Crawley Chartered Surveyor has sought permission from Hertsmere Borough Council to turn the site at 133-135 Sparrows Herne into four one-bed homes.
In a letter submitted alongside the plans, the applicant says: "What we are proposing is what has already been approved to the adjacent buildings in terms of use, conversion, proposals and sizing.
"Residential flats are now the predominant use in the vicinity and commercial units in this location are not desirable."
- Plans approved for 38 flats on Rickmansworth island
- Housing proposed for Greenbloom Growers garden centre site
The letter goes on to say that the design of the proposed properties is "attractive" and argues that the character of the area will be improved by the development.
It also says removing the smell of the fish and chip shop at the site will be good news for neighbouring residents.
The shop front would be replaced as part of the transformation from commercial to residential space.
Submitted to the Hertsmere Planning Portal at the end of last week (October 25), the plans are currently under consideration.
They can be viewed and commented on by visiting the Hertsmere planning portal and entering the reference 24/1361/FUL.
