Residents have been left baffled after a road was forced shut despite their being no permit for a full closure.
Tower Hill in Chipperfield has been closed since yesterday, with the disruption worsening today.
As of 3pm today (October 29) residents have reported the road being "completely shut", with a large vehicle making it impossible for cars to pass through.
Despite this, residents had been expecting only minor delays while roadworks were in place, with traffic website One Network reporting that two-way traffic signals would be in place until midnight tonight.
The confusion comes less than two weeks after "chaos" was caused by incorrectly applied roadworks on a road in Abbots Langley.

On that occasion, roadworks and temporary traffic lights popped up without explanation, causing "mayhem" for drivers and the closure of a bus stop.
A UK Power Networks spokesperson later apologised for the disruption.
It is unknown how long disruption will continue to impact Tower Hill residents as a result of the current road closure.
