A pedestrian has been left with "serious" injuries after a three-lorry crash on the M25 near London Colney this morning.

At around 12.23am today, police were called to reports of a collision involving three lorries and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian – a man aged in his 50s – was taken to hospital with serious injuries."

At the time, National Highways posted a statement on X which read:  "Traffic has been stopped on the M25 clockwise in Hertfordshire within J22 (London Colney) due to a serious collision."

Over five hours later, at 6.22am, the road finally reopened following a "police investigation".

A spokesperson for East of England Ambulance Service said: "We sent Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, an ambulance, ambulance officer vehicle and a rapid response vehicle.

"A man was taken to St Mary's Hospital by land ambulance for further care."
