Bushey High Street is set to close in just over an hour after a manhole cover was damaged.
Hertfordshire County Council has confirmed that Thames Water will be carrying out emergency works to replace the damaged cover in the middle of the carriageway from 7pm today (October 23).
A spokesperson added that they are planning to do it in the evening to minimise disruption and the work will hopefully be completed tonight.
Intalink, which manages the county’s bus network, confirmed that due to an “emergency” road closure, services 142 and 258 will not be serving stops from the Three Crowns pub to Bushey Arches until midnight.

Users are asked to board from Bushey St Peter’s Close/Windmill Lane or Watford Waterfields Way/Watford Dalton Way - on the other side of the A411 Bushey High Street closure.
There is another significant road closure to be aware of nearby, where Bushey Hall Road meets Water Lane, as Highways carries out “carriageway investigation works”.
According to One Network that closure is set to last until November 1.
