Rail enthusiasts will have a chance to witness a record-breaking steam train pass through Watford Junction.

The 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley will be in the station at 1.37pm tomorrow (October 23), according to Rail Advent.

The 1937 locomotive is due in town on a return route from East Grinstead to Crewe after offering trips for classic train fans on the Bluebell Railway, which is a heritage line in Sussex, at the weekend.

It holds the post-war speed record for steam locomotives on British Railways and was recently restored to its 1950s-style blue livery.

Sir Nigel Gresley designed some of Britain's most famous locomotives, including the Flying Scotsman and Mallard.

It previously “astounded” Watford Junction visitors in March this year, as it passed through on another journey – between Kings Cross and York.
