Restaurants, a pub and coffee shop are among seven places to be given new food hygiene ratings by inspectors.

The eateries in Watford, Aldenham and Bushey have recently had fresh scores published – with all scooping 4/5 or 5/5.

Pizza Express in Watford High Street got the top ‘very good’ rating after a recent inspection, as did Krafty Koala Pottery Café in The Parade.

It means that of Watford's 209 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 147 (70 percent) have 5/5 ratings and none have 0/5.

Speciality coffee shop Rhumba in Bushey High Street and Blue Ocean Fish & Chips in Harcourt Road, Bushey, both got 5/5, while Turkish restaurant Meze Mangal in Bushey Heath High Street got 4/5 (good).

Aldenham Social Club in Church Lane also got the top score, as did The Round Bush pub off Radlett Road, near Aldenham.

Food safety inspectors judge anywhere serving food on three categories: hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities, and food safety management.

Overall ratings are then officially published on the Food Standards Agency website.
