Homes are set to be built on this site that for many years was once home to a pub in a village high street.
The Watford Observer has again joined forces with its friends at Watford Museum to look back at structures, objects or businesses from the town’s past that have either disappeared or been relocated and this week we look back at the Kings Head in Abbots Langley.
The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “A pub named the Kings Head used to be at 35 High Street in Abbots LangIey.
“This photograph shows a modern-looking new build of the mid-1960s which had replaced the original older pub.
“This was a Benskin’s pub and like others had a ‘Home Sales’ or Off Licence attached.
“The pub closed in the early 2000s and was a restaurant until 2022.
“Now I understand the building is to be demolished for redevelopment to take place.”
