A man crashed his car in the town centre yesterday before running away from the scene of the accident.
Police were called to a smash involving a grey Volkswagen Jetta and a silver Ford Fiesta in Clarendon Road at 1.22pm on Wednesday, October 16.
People in the busy town centre road reported seeing the Volkswagen driver run off after hearing a “massive noise”, with one witness saying that a small child was in the other car.

Herts Police confirmed the driver left the scene on foot and an investigation to trace them is underway.
He is described as an Asian male, wearing a blue jumper and black jacket.
Pictures from the scene show police around the empty Volkswagen Jetta, which had its airbags activated, opposite the Leonardo Hotel by the junction with Beechen Grove.
Another photo shows the Ford slightly off the road towards the entrance to the hotel parking. Neither vehicle appeared significantly damaged.
