A club dedicated to the health of over-65s has celebrated its first anniversary.

The Live and Learn club at Watford Multicultural Community Centre, founded by Dr Nasrin Razzaq, a GP specialising in elderly healthcare, marked its milestone last week.

It was set up to address the physical, mental, spiritual, and social health needs of those aged 65 and over.

The club aims to ward off conditions such as dementia and frailty by encouraging social interaction, exercise, and a healthy lifestyle.

He said: "It was great to join this warm and welcoming group on their special day.

"It’s important that Watford is a town where everyone can live a happy and contented life.

"I am pleased to support initiatives such as the Live and Learn club that foster community and wellbeing."

Dr Razzaq provides the members with informative talks, and physiotherapist Sheetal Parikh leads gentle exercise sessions.

There is also the opportunity for members to engage with health professionals, including the chance to speak to a doctor and a physiotherapist each week.

Dr Razzaq hopes that the mayor's continued support will help make Watford both "frailty aware" and an age-friendly town in the coming years.
