Watford residents are being asked to vote on which neighbourhood projects should receive part of a £300,000 grant.

Residents are being encouraged to take part in a public consultation to help decide which projects will be given funding from the Neighbourhood Grant scheme - but the voting window closes at 5pm on Friday.

The initiative aims to enhance the area by supporting a variety of projects which will benefit residents across Watford.

Watford mayor Peter Taylor said: "I encourage all Watford residents to take part in the latest public consultation to help decide which local projects will receive funding from our Neighbourhood Grant scheme.

"This fantastic initiative gives community groups, schools, and organisations the chance to make a real difference in our town by supporting a wide range of projects that will benefit different wards and residents."

Projects have already been selected and posted online for the public to review.

These include improving social and play spaces in Holywell and Foxhill, and reducing serious violence and antisocial behaviour among young people in the central area.

Other potential projects include installing outdoor gym equipment and resurfacing the playground at Cherry Tree Primary School in Leggatts, and a garden restoration project to create a community garden at Watford Women's Centre in the central area.

The Reanella Trust's initiative to reduce serious violence and antisocial behaviour among young people, with a focus on preventing knife crime, is also on the list.

Further projects include a cookery project supporting people with dementia and their carers; a mountain bike trail development in Wippendell Woods; and a mentoring programme for at-risk young people.

The Neighbourhood Grant aims to address the impact of development on local areas, providing funding for activities or programs adhering to Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) regulations.

This year, a budget of £300,000 has been allocated.

Residents can find full project details and cast their votes at watford.gov.uk/public-consultation.

The voting window closes at 5pm on Friday, October 18.
