Watford house prices have fallen slightly, despite national trends which showed a slight increase in August.
The average Watford house price in August was £393,499, a 0.7 per cent drop from July, according to Land Registry figures.
These figures are in contrast to the rest of the East of England, which saw an average rise of one per cent, while the UK as a whole experienced a 1.5 per cent increase.
Over the last year, the average sale price of property in Watford fell by £4,100 – putting the area 34th among the East of England’s 45 local authorities with price data for annual growth.
First-time buyers in the town spent an average of £350,300 on their new home.
This is £1,300 less than a year ago but £39,700 more than in August 2019.
Detached houses saw the biggest fall in Watford during August - dropping by 1.6 per cent.

Buyers in Watford paid 14.3 per cent more than the average for the East of England (£344,000). The average house price in the region is £293,000.
St Albans continues to have the most expensive properties in the region, with the average house setting you back £589,000.
The highest property prices across the UK were in Kensington and Chelsea.
