A man who was remanded in custody over stalking allegations has been found not guilty and his case dismissed.

Asif Shaikat appeared at Luton and South Bedfordshire Magistrates' Court on October 7.

During the hearing no evidence was offered by the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service). In trial he was declared not guilty by the court, and he was cleared and freed.

The 40-year-old, of St Albans Road, Watford, was accused of calling his female victim in Luton over 100 times and sending her more than 800 messages between July 24 and August 11.

He denied the charge of stalking without fear, alarm, and distress at the same court on August 19 and was remanded in custody until the case was dismissed on October 7 and he was found not guilty.
