Highways have put an “emergency closure” in place for the A41 in Watford.
The permit for the highways repair and maintenance beneath the A405 Leavesden Green roundabout came into effect at 11am this morning (October 14).
It is set to last until 4pm on Thursday, October 17, and is listed as being an “emergency closure to fix a broken pump for severe flooding”.

A pumping system is supposed to help clear surface water at the underpass, which has been blocked due to flooding on many recent occasions including during heavy rainfall towards the end of last month.
Most recently, Herts Police had a closure in place at the same location on September 23 to 24 after it was rendered impassable by high water levels.
The pump also needed repair in 2020 after it was found that it was running at reduced capacity.
Update: The road has since reopened
