Five days of closures in a road by Watford Junction have got underway this morning.
Hertfordshire County Council Highways have a permit to close Orphanage Road, between Reeds Crescent and Radlett Road, so that it can undertake “major works”.
It is set to begin at 9.30am and end at 4pm each day, until the afternoon of Tuesday, October 15, and the work is listed as carriageway lining.
- Upcoming roadworks in and around Watford - including month-long closure
- Rare photo of gas showroom at The Dome roundabout unearthed
- Cars believed to have been set alight in 'targeted arson attack'
A diversion route has been set up, which sends motorists just over two miles on Radlett Road, Balmoral Road, St Albans Road, Clarendon Road, and St John’s Road.
It is expected to add around five minutes onto any journeys so those needing to catch a train at Watford Junction (around 200 metres away) may need to allow some extra time.
The pavement will not be closed and emergency access will be maintained at all times.
Drainage scheme works are also taking place, in a section of St Albans Road that forms part of the diversion route, until 3pm today. These are being done under multi-way signals near Leavesden Road.
