Herts Police have shared appeals for information over five break-ins and attempted burglaries in the past few days.
The force published information about each of the offences via its Herts Connected site today (October 9), alongside warnings for members of the public to “be vigilant” and take precautions to make their own homes safer.
A spokesperson also said that burglaries in the county on the whole have been increasing during October.

It was reported that an offender or multiple burglars ransacked a home in Eastbury Road, Watford, between 8pm and 8.17pm yesterday, stealing unspecified items from within (crime reference 41/84316/24).
Between 9pm and 9.30pm that same day, there was an attempted break-in in Bridle Close, Borehamwood (crime reference: 41/84356/24). The victim reported hearing a loud bang and came downstairs to notice the back window was cracked.
Checking CCTV afterwards, she noticed two males in tracksuits and black face masks had tried to break in.
They appeared to have come from the back of her garden and tried the back window with a screwdriver. The offenders were then seen trying the garage’s side door and side window before leaving via a side gate when they were unsuccessful.
Shortly afterwards, between 9.40pm and 10pm, a property in Deacons Hill Road, Elstree, was broken into through the back garden (crime reference: 41/84333/24). After being seen by a witness, the burglars left via the front door with jewellery in a pillowcase.
The suspects, who wore balaclavas and all black, then drove off onto Barnet Lane towards Elstree Hill North/South in a VW Golf. A "partial index" of 'V8' was recorded.
Police also asked for information after unknown offenders broke into a property in Coniston Road, Kings Langley, between 5.30pm on Sunday and 7.30am on Monday (crime reference 41/84237/24).
They apparently forced their way in by breaking the kitchen side window and then stole power tools before leaving via the French doors.
At around 7.45pm on Saturday, offenders smashed their way into a home in Barnes Lane, Hemel Hempstead, via the conservatory’s patio door and then tried to prise open the bathroom window (crime reference: 41/83683/2).
In each case, any relevant information can be reported by online, or by calling 101, quoting the corresponding crime reference number.
