A teenager is set for a crown court trial after allegedly taking almost £200k worth of jewellery during robberies.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in Colchester Magistrates’ Court on September 20 facing three counts of robbery.
His case was sent to Chelmsford Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing to take place next Friday (October 18).

The Hemel Hempstead resident is alleged to have acted with another to rob Mappin and Webb Jewellers of 17 Breitling watches worth £119,400 in Chichester, Sussex, on August 17.
Another charge refers to the robbery of Michael Jones Jewellers in Northampton of a Rolex worth £38,950 on August 10, and the third refers to robbing Goldsmiths staff in Chelmsford of jewellery worth £37,1000 on July 25. Both charges refer to the teen allegedly acting with another.
Court documents state that the defendant has indicated a not guilty plea for all charges.
He has been granted bail, with conditions.
