A burglar ransacked a home after climbing onto a conservatory roof and smashing their way into a bedroom.

Herts Police have shared what they know so far after a house in Tylers Close, Kings Langley, was broken into between 9.40pm on Saturday (October 5) and 12.17am the next day.

The unknown offender got in by smashing a hole in a bedroom window before opening it. They then went into the main bedroom, taking jewellery out of storage boxes which were then discarded on the bed.

This included a silver pocket watch, a cufflink collection, earrings, broach, and a silver bracelet worth “a few thousand pounds”.

The offender searched other bedrooms, opening wardrobes and drawers, but disregarded Apple MacBooks that were in the office and bedroom.

Because they triggered the house alarm during the search, officers’ working theory is that they went downstairs to make their escape and smashed the sliding glass door leading to the garden.

A neighbour said that a male in dark clothing jumped onto a bench in the front garden and then over the wall into the back garden of a property in Love Lane.

“If you or your neighbours have any information relating to this crime, or if you have captured any relevant footage on your CCTV or doorbell camera, please contact the police non-emergency number 101, quoting crime number 41/83428/24," a Herts Police spokesperson said.

“Alternatively, you can give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
