A Watford resident recently celebrated her milestone 106th birthday with family, friends and carers.
Ada Gower resides in Brunswick Court Bupa Care Home in Watford where she has just celebrated her 106th year.
Ada said: “I had a wonderful day celebrating my 106th birthday with everyone. I feel blessed to have experienced such a long life and I’ve created many wonderful memories in my time.”
Care home staff decorated the lounge with balloons and organised a buffet, birthday cake, and party games for all guests.

Jyoti Tiwari Pokharel, Home Manager, said: “We’re honoured to have been a part of Ada’s 106th birthday celebrations – what a milestone! We had a fabulous day, and it was lovely to see everyone enjoying the party."
The 106-year-old was born on September, 14 1918, in Wendover, Buckinghamshire and after a brief stint in Canada, her family settle in Watford when she was seven.
She married her husband George on Christmas Day, 1937. They went on to have one son called John living in a house in Garston for 86 years before she moved to Brunswick Court.
Currently, she has three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Ada always enjoyed keeping active during her youth, cycling, running and playing netball regularly.
When asked her secret for living a long and healthy life, Ada said: “No smoking or drinking, plain cooking and eating lots of vegetables. My genes may play a part as well, as my cousin is 103.”
