A number of roads in and around the Watford area are set to be shut for roadworks.
Herts County Council has published its intention in the Public Notice Portal to make orders to prohibit vehicles from using streets in Watford, Bushey and Rickmansworth, as well as additional traffic measures in some instances.
The portal is used to access the upcoming and recent information about various restrictions and notices.
All the intended orders, if made, are valid for up to 18 months from the date they come into force, but the restrictions only apply at times shown at or near the locations.
Here are the closures we’ve rounded up from one notice that could affect residents in Watford, Bushey and Rickmansworth.
Sydney Road, Watford – temporary traffic management measures
Herts County Council is intending to make an order to prohibit vehicles from using Sydney Road, Watford from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No.26 Sydney Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 17m, to allow water connection works to take place.
In addition, the one-way system in Sydney Road from a point 10m south of its junction with Whippendell Road southwards for a distance of approximately 10m will be temporarily suspended to enable all vehicles to travel in both directions within this length of road, whilst works are in progress.
This order, if made, will come into force on October 14.
Various roads, Bushey – temporary closures
An order is due to come into force on October 14 preventing vehicles from using the following lengths of road to allow roadworks to be carried out:
- Mead Way, Bushey from its junction with Bushey Mill Lane south westwards to its junction with Park Avenue, a distance of approximately 1460m.
- Ivinghoe Road, Bushey from its junction with Chiltern Avenue southwards to its junction with Coombe Road, a distance of approximately 105m.
- Richfield Road, Bushey from its junction with Little Bushey Lane south westwards, south eastwards and north eastwards for its entire length.
- Langholme, Bushey from its junction with A411 Sparrows Herne south westwards, north westwards and south eastwards for its entire length.
- The road leading to Nos.9-11 Giant Tree Hill, Bushey Heath from its junction with Giant Tree Hill south westwards for its entire length.
- Little Potters, Bushey from its northernmost junction with Woodfield Rise south eastwards, south westwards and north westwards for its entire length.
Field Way, Rickmansworth – temporary closure
The County Council is intending to make an order to stop motorists from using Field Way, Rickmansworth from its junction with A412 Uxbridge Road north westwards to its junction with Berry Lane, a distance of approximately 300m, while works are carried out.
If made, this order will come into force on October 14.
Otterspool Way, Watford – temporary closure and waiting restrictions
The County Council is intending to make an order to prohibit vehicles from using Otterspool Way, Watford from a point 120m north westwards of its junction with Park Avenue north eastwards to its junction with A41 North Western Avenue, a distance of approximately 30m, to allow duct installation works to be carried out.
In addition, all vehicles will be prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the road whilst works are in progress.
The order, it made, will come into force on October 17.
Berry Grove Lane, Watford – temporary closure
If made, an order will come into force on October 18 authorising the temporary closure to prohibit vehicles from using Berry Grove Lane, Watford from its junction with Bushey Mill Lane north eastwards for a distance of approximately 50m, to allow utility service works to be carried out.
