Residents will be moving into a major town centre development soon as Watford’s tallest building has been finished.

Developer Regal has confirmed that The Clarendon, providing 168 homes over 25 floors, with a sky garden, concierge, cinema and gym, has now achieved “practical completion”.

It followed “hot on the heels” of the completion of The Clarendon Works project next-door. The mixed-use development contains 140,000 square-feet of office space over 12 floors, which is more floor space than Trafalgar Square.

Co-founder Paul Eden said: “It has been so exciting seeing The Clarendon rise up on the Watford skyline, reaching its pinnacle with a 25-floor sky garden for residents.

“The Regal Construction team have delivered again, and I thank and congratulate each member of the team for their skilled hard work.”

The Clarendon Road buildings were built on the site of two office buildings, including Hannay House which faced onto the road, that were judged to be “obsolete”.

So far The Clarendon Works, which was built without lining up tenants beforehand, is now 80 per cent let with just two floors remaining. People will apparently be moving into the homes "in a few weeks time".
