A Watford animal charity has shared an appeal after taking in an abandoned dog that had to have its leg amputated.
The daughter of a Medivet Watford vet was “devastated” to find Noodle abandoned to suffer at the side of the road last week, after he was hit by a car.
X-rays showed the very underweight Lurcher’s front right leg had been completely shattered and he was in extreme pain.

Because the wound was so infected, there was no way his leg could be repaired through surgery and so it had to be amputated.
The vets had to know there was somewhere safe to go afterwards before they could operate, as he would need weeks of care and support, otherwise he may have had to be put to sleep.
After being turned down elsewhere, Medivet got in touch with the NAWT which, despite already being at capacity, decided it had to give Noodle a chance.
He is now settled in after a successful operation and although he still has a long road of recovery ahead of him before he can be rehomed, Noodle is getting everything he needs to be healed, healthy, and happy.
The NAWT has appealed for donations to help with the remainder of Noodle’s care, as well as to help it rescue other animals in the future.
