Firefighters had to use an aerial platform to prevent harm to the public after part of a house became unstable.
Lowestoft Road, in North Watford, was blocked off with cones yesterday evening (September 25) as residents were shocked to see an aerial ladder platform over a row of terrace homes.
This afternoon, Herts Fire and Rescue confirmed that there was no fire situation but instead they had been called at around 8.40pm with reports of an “unstable chimney on a property” in the road.

One fire engine and the aerial ladder platform were sent to the scene, with the latter being used to inspect the chimney and then make it safe.
The service confirmed it closed the road to allow the platform to be set up.
Area commander Andy Hall said: “I’m thankful to our crew’s quick actions for preventing potential harm to the public.
“Our firefighters don’t just respond to fires - this incident is just one example of them using their training and equipment to help keep our communities safe.”
