Striking photos have emerged of an excavator stuck in a pond at a Bushey park, as questions remain over how it ended up there.

Residents questioned what had happened after pictures were posted online of the construction machinery part stuck in gunky water in the Moatfield Recreation Ground yesterday (September 25).

One resident claimed: "They were cleaning it out and the digger got stuck, they’re moving it tomorrow."

Others reacted with shock as one said the pond was "in such a state", adding: "The excavator is a new addition though.”

Another resident joked: “You can’t park there mate!”
