A map has shown where residents face possible flooding around the Watford area today as the town recovers from torrential rain overnight.
The Environment Agency has put flood alerts in place for the rivers Gade and Bulbourne, meaning flooding is possible today in low lying land in Croxley Green, Hunton Bridge and Kings Langley, as well as Boxmoor and Hemel Hempstead.
It is the least serious rank in the warning system, below “flood warning” which means it is expected or “severe flood warning”, meaning it could be a risk to life with significant disruption to communities.
Watford was hit by heavy downpours overnight until around 9am, with weather conditions expected to improve in the afternoon, according to the Environment Agency.

A yellow weather warning for rain from the Met Office remains in place all day across most of England and Wales, including Watford, as the forecaster said “anywhere within the warning area could have impactful rainfall through the course of Monday”.
