A road in Watford that has earned the nickname 'pothole city' is set to finally be repaired after a two-year battle by councillors.

Resurfacing works will take place on the A412 St Albans Road, between Windsor Road and Langley Road, from Sunday, October 27 to Thursday, November 7.

Working will take place between 8pm and 5am, with a noise curfew in place from midnight.

A letter about the works sent by Hertfordshire County Council states the road needs to be "clear of parked vehicles", and that "driveways between the junctions mentioned above will not be accessible at any time during the closure".

"If you need to use your vehicle, please make sure you move it outside the road closure area shown on this letter, at least 30 minutes before we are due to start working," the letter continues.

"On street parking during the works within the closure will not be available. Vehicles will not be allowed access through the road closure during the works."

The resurfacing work is finally being carried out after a two-year battle led by North Watford county councillor Asif Khan.

Previously described as "pothole city" by councillors, the A412 St Albans Road has seen the most accidents involving cyclists of any road in town, and the third most in the county.

It had previously been feared that the road would not be resurfaced until 2025.
