A spate of violent crimes around the Watford area in recent months has seen a total of 13 arrests over a series of attacks.
The A41 shooting is being linked to two stabbings, one assault and an incident which saw a man chased with a gun, which all took place within weeks of each other in July.
The month also saw the triple crossbow murder of the Hunt family in Ashlyn Close, Bushey, as well as a separate attack in Cassiobury Park which left a man in his 40s with a "serious stab wound".
Earlier this week, “shots were fired” at a home in Woolmerdine Court in Bushey on Sunday (September 15), and a man in his 30s was shot dead in Railway Terrace, Kings Langley, in the early hours of the following day (September 17), although they are not being linked by officers.

A41 connected attacks
Herts Police's investigation is ongoing into the shooting which left a man in his 20s in a “life threatening” condition following a run-in with the occupants of a black BMW on the A41 North Western Avenue on July 25.
A total of 13 people have now been arrested over the series of linked violent incidents which include an assault in Meriden Park earlier on the same day as the shootings.
Two separate stabbings in Maeme’s takeaway in Clarendon Road and in Brocklesbury Close just hours apart on July 24, and a row in High Street on July 10 which saw a man in his 20s chased by suspects brandishing a gun are also being treated as connected.
four people with attempted murder, possession of a firearm and perverting the course of justice over the shooting, while a further four have also been charged over the stabbing in Brocklesbury Close.
Police have now chargedAnother teenager is also due to appear in crown court next month over the Maeme's stabbing.
Kings Langley shooting
A murder investigation is ongoing after a man in his 30s was shot in Railway Terrace, Kings Langley, at around 12.33pm on Tuesday, September 17.
Nearby residents heard multiple gunshots, which several initially took for a car backfiring, and then a car screeching off.
Around 15 minutes later, police received reports of a vehicle ablaze in Furtherfield, Abbots Langley, which is believed to be linked to the shooting.
Crossbow murders
Kyle Clifford appeared in court earlier this week charged with the murders of Carol, Hannah and Louise Hunt at their home in Ashlyn Close, Bushey, on the evening of July 9.

Westminster Magistrates Court heard on Tuesday (September 17) that the 26-year-old suspect from Rendlesham Road, Enfield,Clifford, who was the subject over a major manhunt across Hertfordshire and North London, is due to enter a plea in late November on three counts of murder, false imprisonment and two counts of possession of offensive weapon.
Cassiobury Park stabbing
Three men carrying weapons are believed to have attacked a man in his 40s in a Cassiobury Park stabbing on July 12, leaving him with a "serious stab wound".
The three men who reportedly carried out the targeted attack were thought to have been carrying weapons and were described as being Asian.
"Shots fired at home"
A police helicopter was called out on Sunday (September 15) in the search for a gunman after "shots were fired" at an address in Woolmerdine Court, in what is believed to be a targeted incident as part of an ongoing dispute.
Armed police descended on the road but officers were not able to locate the gunman, who was seen riding a Sur-Ron-style electric bike. No arrests have been made.
The suspect, believed to have been on his own, is described as wearing a face covering, black joggers, a black hoodie, black gloves and white socks.
