A row of houses could be built in a village’s green belt land under new plans.
An empty field in Bedmond Road, to the north of the main village of Bedmond, is the subject of a planning application for four homes added to Three Rivers District Council's planning portal this week.
It follows a previous outline application which secured permission in principle for two properties to be built there on the basis that, despite being green belt, the site was within a village’s boundaries so could be considered infill.

However, a bid for full permission with details of how the pair of homes would be designed was not submitted and instead a full plan for four has come forward.
According to the application, four homes would represent “a vast improvement in terms of the appropriateness of the massing” over two and better meet the housing demand for large family homes in Bedmond.
Each proposed house would be the same size and have four bedrooms. There would be 12 parking spaces on site.
The applicant argues that since the two-home plan met the green belt “exceptions test” based on local need and constituting “limited infilling in villages”, the new application should too.
The proposal is currently pending consideration.
