A motorcyclist has been rushed to hospital with "serious" injuries following a seven-vehicle crash on the M25 this morning.

Drivers faced delays of up to an hour and a half and miles of queues in both directions between junctions 16 for the M40 and 17 for Rickmansworth - with delays tailing back towards Watford.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson has now confirmed that six cars and one motorcyclist were involved in the pile-up clockwise at around 6.40am (September 19).

The South Central Ambulance Service has been contacted for more details.

Motorway cameras showed traffic at a standstill as three lanes were shut clockwise for around three hours before the M25 was gradually reopened.

Drivers heading anticlockwise also faced five miles of delays as they passed the crash site.

After officers conducted a clear-up, the road was fully opened by around 10.16am and traffic appears to have mostly cleared, according to Google Maps.
