Herts Police have provided an update as their murder investigation continues following a shooting in Kings Langley.

The force had been called to Railway Terrace at 12.33am on Tuesday morning (September 17) after nearby residents heard multiple gunshots, which several initially took for a car backfiring, and then a car screeching off.

A man in his 30s was found seriously injured and pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Around 15 minutes later, police received reports of a vehicle (which appears to have been a white Volkswagen Golf) ablaze in Furtherfield, Abbots Langley. The force said that it believed the car was linked to the shooting.

In a statement today, a police spokesperson said: "House to house enquiries have been carried out and thorough ongoing investigations are continuing.

"Officers remain at the two scenes with cordons in place. Additional patrols will continue in the area."

Members of the public may be aware that armed police raided a house in Yarmouth Road, Watford, and officers made two arrests in Toms Lane, Kings Langley, this afternoon. Although Toms Lane is just 200 metres from where the initial police cordon stood yesterday, Herts Police have said these operations were not linked.

It explained that the activity was instead related to a shooting in the A41 in Watford on July 25.

Three Rivers Chief Inspector Andrew Palfreyman has said that the shooting in Railway Terrace, Kings Langley, is believed to be an isolated incident and there is not thought to be a wider threat to the public.
