A man has been taken to hospital in a ''serious condition'' after a collision involving two lorries on the A1(M) near Stevenage this morning (September 16).

Just before 7am, a white Isuzu truck and a white DAF lorry crashed between Junctions 7 and 8.

Emergency services attended and the A1(M) was closed in both directions to allow the air ambulance to land.

Police have now confirmed that a man has been airlifted to hospital.

The southbound carriageway remains closed to allow for investigative work to be conducted.

Sergeant Tim Davies, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “I’m appealing for anyone who witnessed this collision, or has dash cam footage of it, to make contact as we investigate the circumstances of the incident.

“I can be contacted directly by email via timothy.davies@herts.police.uk.”
