The A41 was shut for hours near Elstree after a crash saw a motorcyclist taken to hospital.
Emergency services were called at 5.11pm yesterday (September 12) after a van and motorcycle collided on the bypass near Elstree Road.
An eyewitness claimed “hundreds” of cars were queuing with “traffic in every direction”, as the stretch between the Elstree Road roundabout down to the Spur Road junction was shut.
This morning a Herts Police spokesperson confirmed: “Police were called at around 5.11pm yesterday (Thursday 12 September) to reports of a collision on the A41 bypass, near Elstree Road, involving a motorcycle and a van.

“Officers attended alongside the ambulance service, and road closures were put in place to allow emergency services access.
“One person was taken to hospital for treatment.”
The injured person was a male motorcyclist in his 60s, but it is unknown how badly hurt they were, the force said. The East of England Ambulance Service has been contacted for details.
Police said they lifted the A41 closures around two hours later – though heavy congestion remained until at least around 8pm, according to Google Maps.
