A teenage boy has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Watford.

Herts Police said they were called to reports of a crash in Rickmansworth Road at around 8.09am today (September 5), which is believed to have happened near the junction for Gade Avenue.

A Mini and a pedestrian, a 15-year-old, were involved and road closures have been put in place while emergency services attend.

A spokesperson for the force confirmed the boy was taken to hospital but at this stage there is no detail on the level of injuries he suffered.

There is also a small closure in Rosslyn Road, near the Rickmansworth Road junction, according to Google Maps. It is unclear whether this is connected.

Herts Highways had warned of queueing of queuing traffic both ways on Rickmansworth Road "due to an accident around Shepherds Road".

"Congestion to Croxley Green coming into Watford, and back to the Beechen Grove underpass by the Town Hall," it added.
