The worst Hertfordshire roads for speeding have been revealed – and Watford drivers may be pretty familiar with the top two.

Between April 2023 and April 2024, Herts Police handed out 49,755 Penalty Charge Notices to drivers, with the county’s speeding fines over the year totalling £5million.

Hertfordshire's worst spot was the M25 between junction 17 (Maple Cross) and junction 16 (M40) anticlockwise where 4,003 NIPs were issued.

Junction 19 for Watford and 18 for Chorleywood anticlockwise was second with 3,674.

The data was obtained via a freedom of Information request from Legal Expert and shows the 20 Hertfordshire locations where motorists were caught speeding and hit with a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) the most.

Motorways dominated the top five but the Watford entry with the most speedsters, A412 Rickmansworth Road (northeast-bound), came in at number 12 with 1,100 NIPs.

It was closely followed by A4125 Eastbury Road, Watford, (bi-directional) with just five less.
