Motorists face miles of crawling traffic on the M25 near Watford this morning due a technical fault.

There is currently heavy congestion on the motorway anticlockwise between junctions 17 for Rickmansworth and 15 for the M4 due matrix signs displaying incorrect information, according to the AA.

(Image: Motorway Cameras) Road signs on the stretch are reportedly showing that the M25 is closed between junctions 15 to 13, although there are no closures in place.

Traffic heading clockwise between junctions 16 and 17 for Rickmansworth is currently unaffected by the issue.

The issue was first reported at 4.48am this morning (September 4), but the AA’s live map shows traffic is still backed up for around 13 miles towards Rickmansworth.

Motorists face delays of up to 45 mins with average speeds of just 10mph as highways cameras show all four lanes have heavy traffic.
