An anguished mother said she has "no words" after her teenage son was punched unconscious during a “sickening” attack.
Casey Murray, 17, had just left his home in North Watford when he was targeted in The Harebreaks at around 1.15pm on Sunday, September 1.
His attacker, described as a boy of 17 or 18 years with brown hair, reportedly jumped out of a large white four-by-four Kia and struck Casey twice in the back of the head.
Mum Sarah Sears, who was out of the country at the time, said she was left “very upset and shaking” when she received the news.
“I suddenly had a couple of missed calls from my son but it was somebody trying to reach me on his phone,” the 43-year-old explained. “Then my friend messaged me saying ‘Can you call me urgently?’"
The 17-year-old does not remember the attack and woke up on the floor with a man standing over him, as members of the public called police and an ambulance.
He was then rushed to Watford General Hospital where he was treated for five hours for an actual bodily harm-level (ABH) head injury.
The mum of four said: “If you speak to anybody who knows him, he is the loveliest boy. He doesn’t get on the wrong side of anybody.
“I have four children and I’m concerned that they are going to go for his brother as well. It has left me angry and upset.
"The next time my phone rings I’m going to be worried about them or if it’s even worse. It makes me cry just to think about it."

An eyewitness told the Watford Observer they saw someone around 17 to 18 years old get out of a large white four-by-four Kia before the incident, while the adult female driver reportedly shouted "get out the car and do him”.
The attacker reportedly had brown hair and was wearing a purple shirt. The female driver was described as a woman in her 40s with long brown curly hair.
The eyewitness described the incident as “sickening” as photos show blood dripping down Casey’s neck and arm from a head wound while he is being treated by paramedics.
The 17-year-old was discharged from hospital after around five hours on Sunday and has now been left “in shock” with a concussion, according to his mother.
Police said yesterday (September 2) there had been no arrests and the pair are not currently suspected to not be known to each other, however Sarah said her son turned briefly and recognised his attacker before he lost consciousness.
