Sky has said restoring internet to homes in Hertfordshire has been given “the highest priority”.

Households across Hemel Hempstead, and reportedly some in nearby Kings Langley, Abbots Langley and Leavesden, have lost access to broadband through Sky.

Customers have reported having the problem since the early hours of the morning and Sky confirmed it was looking into the issue just before 10am.

Sky Help Team said: “There is currently a multiple exchange outage in the above area affecting broadband, talk, and fibre customers and we're working to get this resolved with the highest priority.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by this outage.”

The company will give customers compensation if they have a total loss of service for more than two full working days after they raise the issue.

A ‘service status’ notice for the Hemel Hempstead area lists the outage start date as today (September 3).

It says: “It usually takes a couple of days to fix things like this but might be sooner.

“When it’s fixed, your service will automatically start working again.”

Update: Customers who had been affected reported their broadband service returning from around 7.25pm on September 3, with Sky Help Team confirming the issue was fixed at 7.54pm.
