A proposal to offer free wi-fi and charging hubs in a high street is among the latest planning applications submitted to Watford, Three Rivers, Dacorum and Hertsmere councils.

The Watford Observer reported this week that Focus Public Networks Ltd has applied to Watford Borough Council to put up the "multifunction hub units" in Watford High Street.

Each would serve as a phone box but also offer free wi-fi for High Street shoppers, a point to charge devices, direct access to local webpages, and a publicly accessible defibrillator.
