Watford Junction trains have been disrupted due to a trespasser on the line.

At 6.39am today (August 30) National Rail reported that London Overground services have been suspended between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction, causing disruption to journeys between Watford Junction and Stratford.

Southern trains between Watford Junction and Selhurst or East Croydon are also affected.

All trains are expected to be disrupted until around 8.30am.

The trespass has apparently taken place in the Shepherds bush area. According to Southern, “the person is now being removed and staff are working to reopen the railway”.

“We will confirm when this has been done,” the spokesperson added, advising any customers about to travel now that they will likely need to allow 20 to 30 minutes extra for their journey.

There will likely be knock-on delays even after the lines reopen.

Tickets can be used on London Buses, any other reasonable London Underground route, London Northwestern Railway services, and London Overground stations that remain open.

Update (7.30am): Disruption is now expected to last until around 10am.

It appears the trespasser has been removed but "the railway is now unable to reopen as soon as expected," according to Southern.

Update (8.50am): Lines have now reopened but disruption remains.

Update (9.45am): A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Shepherd's Bush railway station at 6.25am today (August 30) to reports of a trespasser on the line. Officers attended and a man was arrested on suspicion of trespassing on the railway.”

Disruption is now expected to continue until 12pm.
