Police have charged a man with attempted murder over the A41 shooting in Watford, with 10 arrests now made over a series of connected attacks.
Herts Police confirmed their investigation is ongoing into the shooting on July 25, which is being linked to an assault in Meriden Park on the same day, and a stabbing in Brocklesbury Close on July 24.
Hekmat Galmne, of Eastern Avenue in Pinner, appeared at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court this morning (August 29) charged with attempted murder over the shooting at around 5.20pm on Friday (July 25).
The 26-year-old had previously been arrested and released on bail, but was re-arrested and brought before the court on Wednesday (August 27) following further enquiries.
Update: Galmne was remanded into custody until his next court appearance.
A man in his 20s was left hospitalised in a “life-threatening” condition after being shot in the A41 following a run-in with the occupants of a black BMW.
The victim had been travelling southbound near junction 5 and the BMW made off from the scene in the direction of the M1.
Emmanjuel Nyanutenha, of King George Avenue in Watford, was also due to appear at St Albans Crown Court on Wednesday (August 27) charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place over the Brocklesbury Close attack.
However, the 18-year-old refused to attend court and remains in custody before an application hearing to dismiss his charges on October 21.
A police spokesperson also confirmed the investigation has seen a 16-year-old from Watford arrested this month on suspicion of attempted murder and violent disorder over the shooting, who was later released on bail.
An 18-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, bringing the total number of arrests to 10, and released on bail whilst enquiries continue.
Police have previously appealed for anyone who was in Meriden Park on Thursday (July 24) and has information on what happened at around 3.30pm to come forward.
Detective Inspector Mark Butler said: “I know the community were shocked that such a violent incident happened locally, and I hope this result provides some reassurance that we are doing all we can to bring those responsible to justice.

"Our work continues and we have made a number of arrests already, with a readiness to complete more if required.
“I appreciate the previous reports of violence in the Watford area will undoubtedly have raised concerns with the public about their safety. Colleagues across the constabulary have been investigating, arresting and charging individuals involved in other serious street-based violence and collectively we will continue to respond robustly to these offences.”
