A Land Rover smashed into a tree in a three-vehicle crash at a roundabout in Watford.

Herts Police were called to The Dome at around 10.34am today (August 28) after the smash, which also involved a Mercedes and an unspecified vehicle.

It is unclear at this time exactly how events unfolded, but pictures show the white vehicle had come off the road, onto the grassy area beyond the pavement, and hit the tree head-on.

Damage to the bonnet is visible and the air bag appears to have activated.

The female Land Rover driver was uninjured and no other injuries were reported in the "damage only" crash, police said.

Significant delays on the approach to the roundabout, in the A41 and St Albans Road, remain as of 12pm.

Residents reported that part of the roundabout was closed while police officers attended the scene.
