A Watford man has been charged with having two guns and an exploding bullet en route to the Notting Hill Carnival in London, as the Metropolitan Police said it was “tired of seeing crime scenes” at the annual event.

Aaron Jones, of Spring Gardens, appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court yesterday (August 27) over various firearms offences after he was stopped by officers in Eastcote Lane, Harrow, on Monday (August 26).

A spokesperson for the force confirmed they seized the guns during a vehicle stop in Harrow, with the driver believed to be on their way to the Notting Hill Carnival.

Pride Tuhwe, 26, of no fixed abode in Harrow, also appeared alongside Jones yesterday charged with possession of a handgun and banned ammunition which was designed to explode.

The pair remain in custody before their next hearing at Harrow Crown Court on September 24 where they will enter a plea.

Met Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan said he was “tired of seeing crime scenes at Carnival” after a 32-year-old woman was hospitalised in a critical condition at the annual event.

The force believes the woman was injured when she “got caught up in the middle of” a fight between two groups of men in front of her young child.

A 16-year-old boy from Watford appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Tuesday accused of having a Rambo-style knife at London Euston railway station on April 9.

He did not enter a plea and was released on unconditional bail before his mention hearing at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on September 24.
