Two fraudsters have admitted using QR codes to scam multiple businesses - including one in Watford.

Rhys Buckingham-Russell, 20, and Rebecca Hancock, 18, were accused of using fake codes to dishonestly gain goods and cashback between April 12 and April 16, 2023.

Buckingham-Russell, of Brunel Place in Flitwick, pleaded guilty at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court on August 13 to five counts of fraud by representation and one charge of possessing an article for fraud.

Hancock, of High Street in Cranfield, also admitted eight counts of fraud by false representation and one count of possession of an article for fraud.

A Watford business was among multiple targeted by the pair in a fraud scheme which also covered Stevenage and towns in Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire.

The court files do not state which Watford company was defrauded or how much money was gained. Thames Valley Police have been contacted for more information.

The pair were released on unconditional bail before they are sentenced at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court on October 9.
