Drivers may face disruption to their journeys due to several planned road closures in and around Watford for roadworks.
Herts County Council has published its intention to close various streets in Watford, Abbots Langley, Bushey and other areas in the Public Notice Portal.
This is used to access all of the upcoming and recent information about various restrictions and notices.
Here are five notices we’ve rounded up which could affect residents in Watford, Bushey, Abbots Langley and other nearby areas.
Roads in Abbots Langley and Bushey – temporary closures
Herts County Council is intending to make an order to prohibit vehicles from using the following lengths of roads to allow roadworks to be carried out:
- Bedmond Road, Abbots Langley from its junction with Love Lane north westwards for a distance of approximately 95m.
- Bushey Mill Lane, Bushey from its junction with Mill Way north westwards to its junction with the access road leading to 'Bushey Hall Farm', a distance of approximately 112m.
If made, the order will take effect on September 2 and be valid for up to 18 months but the restrictions will only apply on signs shown at or near the roads.
Hunton Bridge – temporary closure
Drivers are set to be prevented from using Bridge Road/Hunton Bridge Hill, Hunton Bridge from a point 240m north east of its junction with A41 Watford Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 50m, except for access, to enable bridge works to be carried out.
If the Herts County Council order is made, it will come into force on September 2 and be valid up for up to 18 months.
Judge Street, Watford – temporary closure and restrictions
Herts County Council is intending to make an order, the effect of which will be:
- To prohibit all vehicles from using that length of Judge Street, Watford from a point 54m south east of its junction with Leavesden Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m.
- The existing one-way system in Judge Street, from its junction with Leavesden Road south eastwards to its junction with A412 St Albans Road, a distance of approximately 428m, will be temporarily suspended to enable all vehicles to travel in both directions within this length of road, whilst works are in progress.
The order, which is due to come into effect on September 2, is needed to allow electrical connection works to take place.
Cow Lane, Watford – temporary closure
The county council is intending to make an order to prohibit vehicles from using Cow Lane, Watford from its junction with A412 St Albans Road south eastwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 80m, except for access.
This is to allow utility service works to be carried out.
If made, the order will come into effect on September 2 and be valid for up to 18 months but the restrictions will only apply at times shown on signs at or near the road.
Great Grove, Bushey – temporary closure
Planned utility service works mean Great Grove, Bushey, is set to be closed to traffic from its junction with Bournehall Avenue south eastwards to its junction with Fox Close, a distance of approximately 42m, except for access.
This county council order, if made, will take effect from September 1 and be valid for up to 18 months but restrictions will only apply at times indicated on signs at or near the road.
