Watford town centre is constantly evolving but the appearance of some streets has altered more dramatically than others.
The Watford Observer has again teamed up with its friends at Watford Museum to look back at structures, objects or businesses from the town’s past that have either disappeared or been relocated.
The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “The days of having to negotiate the busy traffic and buses when crossing Queens Road have long gone.
“Even before the shopping centre that runs along this road was built, Queens Road had already been pedestrianised.
“This view looks from the High Street with the once well-known shop of Ketts on the right and the Nat West bank on the left.
“Queens Road did not have an underpass halfway along its length either. Here, was Derby Road and a crossroads.”
