Plans to demolish a classroom building at a Watford school have been submitted.
Laurance Haines School, in Vicarage Road, has applied for planning permission to knock down a temporary structure next to its playground and replace it with a soft play area.
The playground would be laid with a specialised wet pour play-surface made of granulated rubber crumb.

The existing building contains two classrooms, an entrance lobby, storage rooms, and bathrooms. Documents confirm it was most recently used for teaching but state that it is now vacant.
The planning application, added to the Watford Borough Council planning portal today (August 20), is currently pending council approval.
A grassy area around the building would also become part of the proposed soft play area. To make up for the loss of biodiversity, an area of scrub would be created and the primary school would plant five small trees.
The school was granted planning permission to build the classrooms in 2009.
